Supplier Checklist

It’s a competitive world out there…one that continues to get smaller!  With today’s technology, your potential clients can literally look at vehicles from around the globe.  Why would they choose to do business with you?

Your suppliers ultimately hold the key to your success.  When choosing a supplier, we urge you to consider the following:

Security

  • Choose an established supplier with a good reputation—one who works with a team of experienced people vs. one who works alone.
  • A reputable supplier will not require a prepayment. You should not have to pay until your vehicle is delivered to the shipping line and you have received a copy of the Bill of Lading.
  • Should the supplier require a deposit, make sure that deposit is reasonable. Deposits of 25% or more are considered to be excessive and can be a warning sign.
  • Choose a supplier who handles all local tax issues. Do not pay taxes to your supplier with the hopes they will be refunded later.
  • A trustworthy supplier always conducts a background check to ensure the vehicle hasn’t been stolen.
  • Pick a supplier who uses a reputable insurance company, one that pays claims promptly.

Efficiency

  • Make sure the supplier speaks and understands your preferred language and keeps you informed about your order progress.
  • Select a supplier who can supply and install accessories, as well as supply competitively priced parts for maintenance and repair.
  • Work only with suppliers who ship immediately upon receipt of your order. Your client is waiting!

Integrity

  • Good standing suppliers may not be the least expensive but they always deliver the vehicles you order.
  • Honest suppliers deliver the vehicle you ordered, when promised and openly communicate with you about potential delays.
  • Reliable suppliers inspect all vehicles before shipment.
  • Choose a supplier who does not sell into the retail marketplace. Why place an order with your competition?
  • Remember the old adage, if the deal sounds too good to be true…it is too good to be true!
